Dr. Moon is an Investigator in the Program in Molecular Medicine and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics, and an Adjunct Associate Professor of Neurobiology and Anatomy, and Human Genetics. Dr. Moon is PI on 2 NIH RO1s, an American Lung Association Career Investigator Award, and is coPI on an NIH SNRP. She was awarded the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), the Society for Pediatric Research Young Investigator Award, and the March of Dimes Basil O'Connor Award.

She has made basic and clinically-relevant discoveries in the area of congenital limb and cardiac malformations, and has identified fundamental biologic mechanisms relevant to these disorders; her work was recognized by her election to the American Society of Clinical Investigation. Dr. Moon has substantial clinical experience, and built her research enterprise while attending regularly in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Primary Children's Medical Center where she trained fellows, residents and medical students.

In addition to 3 pre- and 6 post-doctoral fellows, she has mentored 12 undergraduates whom have gone on to careers in research and medicine. Dr. Moon serves on the advisory and mentoring committees for the Children's Health Research Center, the Genetic and Developmental Mechanisms of Pediatric Disease K12, and the Pediatric Critical Care Scientist Development Program K12.
